Yang is a Senior Software Engineer at the Emory Center for Digital Scholarship. He is passionate about using design thinking and modern technologies to enhance the user experience. He advises faculty and students on a wide range of digital and technical projects, guiding them through the full lifecycle from initial design to implementation and long-term maintenance. He exercises creativity and initiative in developing narratives, tools, technologies, and designs for his clients, and help them not only meet their goals but exceed expectations, often by introducing ideas and possibilities they had not previously considered.  

He approaches projects with empathy and active listening, drawing on his liberal arts education to identify core needs and address complex challenges, both technical and conceptual, with thoughtful, customized solutions. His interdisciplinary and growth mindset consistently earns recognition from faculty, authors, and collaborators across and beyond the Emory community. This approach is grounded in decades of experience as a mentor, consultant, and designer, shaped by formative years in both industry and higher education.
